The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was enacted to ensure that individual's private health information remains private.

The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLB) seeks to protect consumer financial privacy.  It's provisions limit when a "financial institution" may disclose a consumers "non-public personal information" to non-affiliated third parties.

Privacy Index is a rating of speech privacy that ranges from 0 to 100 (complete privacy).  The goal for an open office is a PI of 80 or above.  For a closed office, 95 or above.  Note that you can not achieve these ratings with acoustical ceiling and panels alone.
